The Birthplace of Hospitality
Crete is the largest of all the Greek islands. Also considered to be one of the most prosperous areas in Greece. Development on the island has been favoured by its geographical location, climate and diverse natural beauty, as well as, its unique cultural and historical heritage. Crete is renowned for its breath-taking mountain ranges and long sandy beaches that take you right down to its deep-blue seas.
Famous for its Natural Beauty
With a warm climate and a landscape of striking contrasts – long sandy beaches, olive groves, and a smattering of fishing villages – the island is home to the city of Rhodes with its famous Palace, narrow streets, open-air cafes, traditional tavernas and ancient harbour. The village of Lindos, meanwhile, built by the Dorians (10th Century BC), is a must-see, thanks to its ancient acropolis.
The region of Ilia IS history
Located in the western part of Peloponnese, the area is world-famous for its important archaeological findings and, above all, the site of Ancient Olympia. In Illia, you’ll stumble upon historical marvels and architectural gems: a Byzantine monastery or temple here, an ancient monument or Frankish castle there.
Our Village
Our village is situated at an imaginary crossroads between three regions, Ilia, Messinia and Arcadia. The name of the village comes from the Greek term for vines, ‘ambeli’, which was given to the village because of the many vineyards farmed by its inhabitants. Nowadays, nestling amongst the chestnut trees, the village is a little retreat offering hospitality and peace.
